The trendy fashion area of Brussels.

Opposite the Stock Exchange building, is Rue Orts. At n°11, Cosmeticary has an exclusive range of cosmetics favoured by international stars. Across the street, don’t miss a visit to the superbly renovated Beursschouwburg cultural centre. On the corner, at the Hotel Orts Café, sit at the terrace to watch the neighbourhood fashion victims go by. Above it, the thirteen rooms of the Hotel Orts, decorated in tasteful shades of grey and beige, are full of charm. 

The old central market (Halles Saint Géry ) of Brussels is in the middle of the Place Saint Géry and all around are a number of very trendy bistros: Mappa Mundo, Le Roi des Belges and Le Zebra… Terraces where it is heavenly to hang out in summer, till the wee hours of the morning.
On Rue des Chartreux, Am Sweet is an adorable tearoom that offers typical Belgian specialities, as well as chocolates from Laurent Gerbaud. Opposite, at number 17, the concept store Hunting and Collecting presents a selection of designer pieces for men, women and children, as well as accessories. They also regularly organize theme exhibitions. Further on, is Espace Bizarre, well known for its large selection of modern furniture. Opposite is Toit, "the home of home", where you will find gifts from all over the world, just for your favorite home. At the end of the street, on the Place du Jardin aux Fleurs, is In ‘t Spinnekopke, a tavern-restaurant with Belgian specialities in a decor dating from 1762. Opposite you’ll find the new men’s boutique OWN.

On the corner of the Rue Dansaert are the spectacular windows of Kartell, the international design temple.

Next door at Nong Cha Tea, indulge in high quality traditional Asian teas, hand-selected by the friendly owners during their frequent trips to China. Upstairs is a tiny tearoom where you can hold your own tea ceremony with friends. Steps away,  Le Pain Quotidien invites you for a short stop for coffee or brunch; this outlet was the first of a franchising chain of bakeries/tearooms, going from Paris to New York. To start the evening, the Archiduc invites you for jazz and drinks in an Art Deco setting; from time to time, famous jazzmen meet there for a jam session. Dinner can follow in one of several trendy restaurants: try the Moroccan restaurant Kasbah . On the same side of the street, Kat en Muis is a paradise for trendy and fashionable children, and proposes numerous exclusive Belgian creator’s collections. Further on, you’ll find the Olivier Strelli women’s and men’s boutique. At the end of a corridor, discover the literary world of Passa Porta and its extensive choice of art books.  Just opposite,  in the concept space Sarah Pacini & Friends, find all the clothing pieces for women’s wear from the home collection, as well as the men’s collection made by this season’s designer guest, Canadian designer Philippe Dubuc. Two steps further, Rue Blanche displays its entire collection of clothes and accessories. Next door, for fans of lingerie, Underwear, boasts the best collections from the latest top designers.  A fully renovated 1900 building houses the new Hotel Cafe Pacific. Each of the 12 rooms have been decorated with beautiful textiles from the fashionable Mia Zia brand. The decor of the Pacific Café lounge bar mixes modern and vintage pieces and is open from dusk till dawn, for a trendy breakfast and drinks at the lounge bar later at night.
On the corner of Rue Antoine Dansaert is Annemie Verbeke’s flagship store, with its elegant and refined collections.  We now arrive at Stijl, the boutique which started the fashion theme of this neighbourhood. Sonja Noël gave a great number of designers their first break. Her shop is the only one in Brussels offering the collections of the famous Antwerp designers Ann Demeulemeester, Dries Van Noten, A F Vandevorst,  Kris Van Assche, Raf Simons, Tim Van Steenbergen, Rick Owens... as well as those of the Brussels creator Sofie D’Hoore.  At number 76, you shall discover the concept store of the Belgian Essentiel Antwerp It offers its various collections for men, women and children as well as its home designers personal favorites in terms of accessories, books and world objects. Next door is La Cigogne, a lovely little bistro with home-made meals. Try the “Stoemp”, it’s a real treat.  Opposite is the boutique Les Précieuses with its exclusive accessory collection.  At number 87 lies the Brussels lingerie designer Carine Gilson's Art Deco boudoir, where she exclusively showcases her “Lingerie Couture” collection: undergarments made of natural silk, muslin and Chantilly lace. For any shoe addict, This summer be seduced by her superb spa range. Hatshoe is a Brussels boutique, offering the largest range of designer shoe collections. A few steps ahead, don’t miss Hoet optiek, with the surprising Theo glasses collection, created by the Belgian designer Patrick Hoet. Here you will also find the other creations by the Hoet family.

Nouveau Marché aux Grains: : on the left, you will find the refined and pure place of designer Johanne Riss, where you can even choose or pick out a wedding dress while having a cup of tea in her japanese garden.  On the other side of the square, on the corner of Rue Léon Lepage, Christophe Coppens boutique displays collections of accessories for men and women. Opposite, at number 6 Marché aux Grains, Sonja Noel is once again ahead of her time with Haleluja, an area dedicated to fair fashion, which offers exclusive clothing lines by environmentally friendly international designers.  Towards the canal area, on rue Antoine Dansaert, at number 98, be tempted by the ultra trendy shoe collections at Yellow Mellow. Prices are reasonable. Just before the Canal,  at number 196, discover the current pure and immaculate space of modern jewellery designer Christa Reniers.  And opposite, the Walvis, a trendy café whose terrace is the hip meeting place for all the neighbourhood creators

On the left, at Canal 20 on Boulevard Barthélémy, don’t miss the white boutique and gallery of fashion designer Knott Gallery one of the great names in Belgian fashion where you can find his collections, unique pieces of clothing and his artist friends’ pieces of work.

On Rue Notre Dame du Sommeil, you will find La Manufacture, a spectacular restaurant, now occupying the former workshop of the leather goods manufacturer Delvaux. Go back to the Marché aux Grains, Rue Léon Lepage, where the boutique Mieke Cosyn presents her dresses for a dream wedding. Two steps away is the flagship store Just In Case with creations by two Antwerp designers renowned internationally for their romantic pieces made from beautiful fabrics and with exquisite embroidery. On the corner, the art of handmade craftmanship is celebrated at N.D.C. Made by Hand. This Belgian brand showcases both its classic and more extravagant shoe collections for men and womem, along with accessories, before the collections become available elsewhere. At number 40 lies a white house where Sonja Noel invites you to discover Maison Martin Margiela the secret universe of celebrated Belgian designer Martin Margiela. On Rue Rempart des Moines, visit the workshop and boutique of Sophie Heymans. This jewellery creator shares her passion for yellow gold and pryrex, which she marries perfecly together. She would be delighted to create the custom piece of your dreams for you...

Rue de Flandre, at number 113, the Henri restaurant offers a delicious cuisine as well as a selection of  great wines. A little piece of advice : make a reservation. and Marché aux Porcs, On the corner of let your taste buds in for a treat at Royal, a restaurant serving traditional Brussels cuisine. In summer, the entire city can be found enjoying an aperitif at the counter and oysters on their wonderful terrace. Next door, at number 8 rue Marché aux Porcs, fashion victims will adore the white boutique's 50s feeling of Les Fabuleux Marcel de Bruxelles, specialising in 'Marcels' or cotton singlets, in every type imaginable including limited editions. Opposite at number 13, for fans of fine Greek cuisine, the Strofilia  serves scrumptious meals as the very best Greek wines. Besides the fine dining, it's worth visiting for taking in the modern entryway and historically classified cellars, dating back to a wine depot from the 17th century.

At number 46 Rue de Flandre, don't miss La Bellone, an address dedicated to the performing arts and live shows. For dinner, try Viva m’Boma, the only trendy restaurant to offer genuine traditional Brussels cuisine. Across the street, treat yourself to gourmet cuisine at reasonable price at Switch, where seasonal products compose mouth-watering menus. Hungry and wanting to grab a quick bite ? The Noord Zee restaurant is the perfect place for any amateur of fresh fish, to be enjoyed on the spot or for take-away. Around the corner, the Flemish cultural center De Markten offers a large choice of activities and exhibitions, and its cafeteria has a pleasant terrace in summer

Here are several good addresses for a great meal on Place Sainte Catherine: Le Jaloa, a well-known gastronomic delight, has recently opened its doors and lets you enjoy its splendid garden during the summer. Le Fourneau, a restaurant with an original concept, inspired by the table of Joël Rebuchon : several gourmet dishes that you can sample in various sizes while sitting around a large modern bar counter. For anyone passionate about flavours of any kind, Desmecht offers a wide range of spices from all four corners of the globe. La Belle Maraîchère, a traditional place, made a name for itself thanks to its delicate seafood cuisine and impeccable service. 

Continue your walk and you shall arrive at the Marché aux Poissons with its typical restaurants and bistros : François, the temple of lobster ever since 1922, and opposite, the Marie Joseph, its state-of-the-art "croquettes aux crevettes", impeccable service and decor of contemporary art. A few steps further away is Le Vismet, a casual and laid-back setting in which the chef Tom Decroos gives free rein to his creativity : his fish dishes are simply delicious !

Visit the Old Béguinage neighbourhood and wander through the streets of the Brussels of yesteryear.

On Rue de la Vierge Noire, is the small China Town of Brussels. At number 2, the Supermarché Kam Yuen is the one who was at the heart of the neighbourhood’s establishment. This supermaket was also the first to actually offer a wide variety of Chinese and Asian produce. It still satisfies your every need or desire, whether it be for fresh produce, canned foods, teas or objects. You can also find a few remedies or cures, as well as Chinese newspapers. Behind the corner, Rue Melsens, the restaurant Beijingya shall make every traveller searching for authentic flavours, happy as well as absolutely delighted. Two steps away, on Rue des Poissonniers, the restaurant Xu JI offers a very wide variety of traditional and popular dishes of Jiang Su ( 江苏 ) and Zhejiang  ( 浙江 ), that can all be eaten on the spot or simply for take-away.
